We operate out of a newly renovated 48,000 square foot facility capable of accommodating museum exhibit projects and commissions of any size and complexity. RCI has called a few places home over the years but with this much space at our disposal, we have access to many fabrication and conservation options.
MOULDING & CASTING
With a catalog of over 80 animals, mould storage makes up around 5,000 square feet of our floor area. Almost all of our moulds have been made in-house by skilled technicians using the highest quality materials. This area also provides casting and roving services for fiberglass, polyester resins, carbon fiber, urethane and more. As we have many chemicals in storage, safety is upheld through multiple vented grinding and painting booths as well as key-access storage spaces.
FOSSIL PREPARATION & STORAGE
Fossil specimens are precious and require top care. Our fossil lab is climate controlled, static free, and maintains a positive air pressure to keep out airborne dust and chemicals. Attached is a 2,600 square foot storage room that maintains the same environmental standards. We also have a segregated facility certified for working on specimens containing asbestos. This requires special standards to ensure negative pressure and proper control.
BLACKSMITHY
Our fossil mounting area is over 3,500 square feet and is operated by some of the finest craftsmen and blacksmiths. We are set up with fully equipped workstations complete with 5 foot sandboxes, anvils, and tools. Custom dies, pneumatic hammers, and torch forges down to jewelers scale are also at their disposal to ensure the utmost flexibility. Creating displays containing authentic fossil requires ample space to take the utmost care of the specimens.
CONCRETE & OUTDOOR EXHIBITS
Our playground and rockwork products require their own space. Concrete fabrication is messy and needs ample room to keep separate from our other operations. We have allotted over 5,000 square feet with ready outdoor access. Well equipped with hoses and cleanup amenities, we can ensure the best workmanship possible.
MOUNTING AREA
The largest section of our building, almost 13,000 square feet is devoted to mounting our massive displays and casts. With some animals reaching almost 200 feet long, we rely on our 3 axis crane traveling over 150 feet of rail. We are also fully outfitted with custom metal machining equipment, several MIG & TIG welders, and acorn tables for pattern making. This area is also used for custom exhibits and sculpting on any scale. All displays are painted, detailed, and inspected to achieve a quality finished product.
DIGITAL IMAGING & FABRICATION
Boasting an impressive 5-axis CNC router capable of large scale reproduction, we have dedicated almost 2,000 square feet to materials and storage for this machine. We also have enclosed areas for several printers as well as office space dedicated to producing drawings and ensuring the quality of digital models in our archive.
OFFICES
No matter how large it gets, our company strives to maintain a welcoming feel for clients and professionals arriving on site. Peter May keeps his office attached to the reception area with an open door policy. We also provide a comfortable conference room with audio visual connections to accommodate virtually any presentation.
PROPERTY
RCI has plenty of undeveloped land as well for expansion initiatives and special projects. Outside of our facility has been used for rockwork displays and conservation work. Recently deceased animals claimed for archive and study require an outdoor space to decompose. We have set up storage containers for that process as well.
